I've sorta always kind of found it silly cause EVERYONE that I know loves fried chicken, watermelon, and kool aid-black people, white people, purple people, yellow people, etc.

^ Yea, there's no way this guy could've not known what he was doing. The black people/watermelon stereotype is one of the most common ones around. Its been around probably since enslaved blacks were brought to the Americas. I think it really picked up towards the end of slavery and into the Jim Crow era and it just stuck I guess.
