Thanks for the note, and I want you to know that this simply isn't the case. We work very hard to maximize the profit of all of our movies -- that's our job after all.

One decision we need to make on each film is how many screens to open on at the beginning, and how to expand it. We opened Pan's Labyrinth on fewer than 20 screens last December, and at its widest release it got up to 1000+ screens. El Canante was released on about 540 screens its opening weekend, and we are expanding it this weekend. We will take it as far as it can go, again, that's our job.

All the great support in this forum and on other message boards, and people calling their local theater and asking for the film makes a huge difference, so thanks for your input. Remember, it isn't only our decision where a movie plays, the theater owner has a lot of say of course. Please continue to support the film and to ask theaters to show it, this really makes a difference. If you've already seen it, go back this weekend and take a few friends! After all, here in the USA money talks and (you know what) walks, so when the movie performs well, this leads to more theaters (like Pan's Labyrinth). We had a very good opening weekend and are adding more theaters this weekend. Hopefully we'll have another good weekend and then we'll continue to expand.

We're all looking forward to more success with El Cantante!

I'm going to see it again this weekend and I'm taking the family with me.

Wow. This movie really, really sucked...like REALLY. Thank God I didn't waste $11 on movie tickets, I watched the bootleg instead. I thought this was supposed to be good? What a waste, man...No big surprise, though.
