Con el fallecimiento del cantante Michael Jackson ha muerto una institución, aseguró hoy el artista salsero Marc Anthony.

"Hemos sido testigos de la muerte de una institución", señaló el cantante, de ascendencia puertorriqueña, en un comunicado.

"En estos difíciles momentos, es importante tener en cuenta todos los sacrificios que tuvo que enfrentar para defender su privacidad y respetar la privacidad de sus hijos, quienes a fin de cuentas han tenido la pérdida más grande, la de su padre", señaló el artista.

Marc Anthony, que conoció a Michael Jackson cuando el "rey del pop" se presentó en el Madison Square Garden, en Nueva York, con motivo del 30 aniversario de su carrera, supo de su muerte durante una gira de conciertos que realiza por América Latina.

"Como Elvis, hay artistas que nacen para cambiar la historia como la conocemos, la historia de la música, la historia del mundo. Michael Jackson fue una de esas personas", aseguró el músico.

"Decir que él fue un ícono es poner sus logros artísticos de una manera muy simple, para lo que esta representa", agregó.

Michael Jackson murió el pasado jueves, a los 50 años de edad, tras sufrir aparentemente un paro cardíaco, en circunstancias que aún son investigadas por las autoridades.
