I was just wondering if any of the BB visitors is a Donor? And why or why not?
I myself just got the papers that asked me if I'd like to become one, and I think I will because I feel like it's the good thing to do if it could possibly be helpful to others after my life is over. |

I'm a donor.
My health card says I am willing to donate organs and/or my body to science...I figure there are people who need it and transplant lists are SO long! If I was in need of something, I would want others to donate. I can't donate blood, so I will donate other stuff when I die. lol Plus I think medical science has infinite boundaries and I'd like to be a part of it. |

When I'm dead, sure. But I won't put in on my license because I don't want a bleeding heart doctor to kill me to save 5 other people or something
like that, lol.

Sorry this probably sounds stupid but I don't totally get what you wrote? Does that mean that if you have yourself listed as a donor that they may kill you for your organs? No, she means that if she were injured/in a coma/etc she wouldn't want a doctor to remover her organs to save a bunch of people. This is of course if she showed no hope of survival or meaningful life. I think your fears are kind of unfounded Heather, lol. If you weren't dead, your family would still be involved and would have to approve pulling the plug, so to speak. Never mind the examinations in determining causing of death and suitability for transplant...ethics and transplant boards would have some issues, since they call it "organ harvesting" lol. |

Nonetheless! I'm a conspiracy theorist!
And I just mean that if I'm injured, a doctor might not give me the best possible care or restart my heart or whatever to serve the "greater good". I'm sure stuff slips through the cracks in the chaos of an ER, despite people's best intentions. |

Honestly, I think the chance of that happening is so close to zero I wouldn't even worry about it. There are also too many people involved in potential
transplant donors/candidates...I think you're watching too much ER! lol
I think "the greater good" is a bigger concern for politicians or lawyers, not doctors. Either way, I would always donate...I wish I could give blood but being anemic leaves me incapable of sharing. lol |

Speaking of giving blood they recently changed the guidelines and if you have been out of the US to another country for, I think the period of time is 6
months, you can no longer give blood.

I'm a blood donor! I will always go for blood when I get the notification of the next available slot! I always feel good about it because so many people
are loooking for it which is quite scary! I always imagine if it was me desperately needing the blood and it not being available

I donate blood =] someone out there has my blood in their system! lol
Would I donate donate? Hmmm nah... If i donate my kidney I will have one kidney and then what if when i get older my kidney fails and then Ill die I guess..... One of my lungs? Oh no....Lungs dont last long on people, the body will reject it most of the times... My Heart? Maybe when I am dead DUH! My eyes...when i am dead um what is there to donate anyway? lol Reminds me of Seven Pounds the movie =] how Wil saved 7 peoples life with his organs and stuff =] |

Im a Donor and its listed on my Licence.im not really scared of anything,or any doc killing me to save other people.
The way i see it is,once im dead what am i good for,hummm NOTHING lol so why not help others live? What i want is that in a way i can bring people back hope,joy and happiness to families that didnt have much hope because they haven't found anyone to donate what they need.But once they know what someone had donated lets say a kidney, and that will help their child live.That are going to be super happy. Thats all I think about.Is helping people live once im dead. Hopefully that will be years and years away,but you just never know. |

I am a donor. And it is listed on my driver's license. Hey, I won't be using it by the time they take it. So I don't see why not. As for donating
while I am still alive, I definitely would consider it. Saving lives is all I care for. But I dont like the fact that they won't let me donate blood. I
would love to do that, but the system is so stupid.

i watched John Q for the second time the other night.....and i actually THOUGHT about it more...
whereas bfore it was a non-issue for me...a NO. but i dont plan to die young..so lol not worrying about it...? anyway how do u become a donor if you're not listed as one? how is anyone to know? |

When I got my drivers license at the motor vehicle, I checked it off on the application so that I am a donor. Then it shows up on your record and I.D.
