There is a moment of pure Hollywood-style drama at FHM's Miami Beach-based Jennifer Lopez cover shoot. We are in Golden Beach, an upscale slice of Miami oceanfront, at the home of obscenely wealthy residents who are willing to ignore local bylaws stating that weekend filming may not take place on the beach without a license. Our host are thus running the risk of imprisonment just to be able to say that Jennifer Lopez was photographed in their back yard. On their very own stretch of private beach.
Instead of retreating up to the house to slip into her gossamer-like oufits, Jennifer, who turns 32 this July, directs her entourage to pick up towels and form a human beach hut where she can change between shots.
For the evevings first shot, she emerges from her terry cocoon wearing only a tiny pair of leather pants and a totally see through mesh top - a posh, possibly ridiculously expensive mesh top, but a mesh top nonetheless. And it's undeniable that Jennifer nipples are obviously, some might even say shamlessly, on display. To be technically precise, it is her areolae that are enjoying the balmy Miami see air.
Not to put too fine a point on it, but they aare absolutely huge, and weirdly symmetrical. Kind of like fleshy flowers. Though it's impolite to stare, FHM can't help it. Neither can two small boys who have wandered up the shoreline and plooped themselves down only yards away from the action, no doubt equally confused and excited by the commotion that Jennifer has caused in their litle Speedos. Her impassive manager does a double take at the sight of his famous charge's lady-bits, nearly propelling himself out of his deck chair to rush and cover her up. There is a moment of insane tension, until the stylist explains that Jennifer is wearing the latest in photo shoot technology:flesh colored, petal-shaped elastoplasts that completely conceal her nipples. Welcome to Miami!
So far, the new century has been remarkably kind to Jennifer Lopez, who was voted FHM's Sexiest Woman in the World for a second consecutive year last spring. With hit movies and two massive-selling and critically acclaimed albums, she became the first person to ever occupy the top spot on both the US album and film charts simultaneously.
Other than that, she enjoyeda high-profile two-year fling with rap impresarion Sean "P.Diddy" Combs, which climaxed with the pair being arrested in a December 1999 New York nightclub shooting incident. Less than eight months after her Valentines' Day 2000 break up with Combs, jennifer raised eyebrows with her second wedding in five years - her previous one-year marriage to male model Ojani Noa ended in divorce in 1998.
This time the lucky chump was one of her backup dancers, 32-year-old Cris Judd, who gives hope to follicely challenged men everywhere. One can only assume that he goes home every night after being treated to the full A-list experience out on the town with Lopez, shuts the door, and does a victory dance around the room to an imaginary cheering crowd.
Back at the shoot, Jennifer is rolling around in the invitingly warm surf, every second wave enveloping and soaking her time and time again. This is without a doubt the sexiest shoot she has ever done. Right now, she is wearing a translucent white shirt that hold no protection against the ocean. And as she turns to face the camera, it is clear that her to has become completely see-through. This time, no nipple camouflaging trickery spares our blushes, and FHM bears witness to the most exclusive wet white t-shirt show on the history of the world.
Even though the shoot drags on late into the night, Jennifer sounds excited about the pictures and can't wait to see her cover story. "Which picture are you going to use on the cover. The black top? Cool. That's my favorite! You have to send me that first issue off the press!"
These really are the hottest shots you've ever done.
I've always wanted to go for something like that - sexy and on a beach at night, in the water- and I was just waiting for the right opportunity. I know FHM and what kind of pictures you guys like, so I thought it would be a perfect opportunity to match the two.
So you were pleased to win the FHM Sexiest Woman in the World for the second straight ime last year?
Oh, yeah! It was overwhelming to win this awars for the second time, and it's a wonderful feeling because I'm not the typical tall, thin, Hollywood-body type. I'm truly honored to be voted by FHM readers. Any woman that says dhe doesn't like to be called sexy...it's so not true. It's the most flattering thing in the world. My mom and my sisters are having a lot of fun with it. They're like, "Jennifer is the sexiest woman in the world? Get out of here!" But I really want to make it a triple this year!
And we hear you're particularly fond of the bronze supercharged Jaguar XKR 3.8 FHM gave you for winning.
I love it! There are only two in the world with the same color and specs as mine.
You've described your life as being like a circus. Do you have any performing animals at your house?
Ha! No! It's just that it can get crazy, and I use circus to mean chaotic. There are just so many things that are going on at once. It's like doing a juggling act.
Multimillion-dollar paychecks, flashy cars, hit records- where did it all go so right, Jennifer?
You end up thinking, "Well, this is all wonderful and great, but what does it actually mena? What is it worth in the great scheme of things?" But then I say to myself, "Well we all have a purpose in life, we all have things that we were meant to achieve and a potential that we were meant to reach." At the end of the day, I'm an entertainer- I entertain people. I always wanted to be the best that I could at it, or else why do it? I've always said, since the beginning of my career, that this was never about money or charts or having the No. 1 movie. I feel blessed and lucky that the money is in my life, but its not what drives my every day and start working hard.
You're pretty good at enjoying your success, aren't you?
What? WHat are you saying?
That you like the good life.
It's nice to be able to enjoy my success. One of the things I love most is being able to send a car to my mother without her knowing about it. She's amazing to me, and raised me wonderfully and she deserves everything I can give her. So I am guilty of doing stuff like that. But what's money for? If you don't spend it, You're just going to leave it in the bank. but what for?Just so you can sit there and look at the bank statemennts and go; "I have so much money!" I enjoy spoiling everyone around me - including myself once in a while. And why not? But I'm not stupid about it. I don't have 15 cars, I'm not excessive, but we live OK.
Enough, your movie due out this spring, sounds like it deals with rather heavy subject matter.
It's heavy and it's not- it's kind of a girl power movie. It's about a woman who thinls she's found Mr. Right and she marries him and has a kid a year later, but then finds out after 5 years that he's a monster! And she has to deal with getting away from him and then hiim stalking her, and the abuse and living in fear and being on the run with her child. So in that way, it's heavy, but in the end, it's about taking control of your life and no letting other people run it.
Your clothing line was recently released, and the experts are saying it will make $100 million a year.
Yeah, I've heard people saying that, but I'll believe it when I see it. The clothing is going really great; it's getting a great reception from the buyers.
Is it going to be hard seeing ugly people wearing them?
Oh, you're terrible! We make the clothes for evrybody! It doesn't matter what you look like! You are terrible!
And finally, is it true that you bought Cris some restorative hair serum?
Why would I do that?
Well, the story goes that although you clearly like him with the Yul Brynner look, you came across some pictures of him with a full head of hair and like it so much that you wanted to try to get his hair to grow back.
Well, I gotta tell you, you guys come up with some doozies! You really do!
